I am Ares, born mid-August 2022 so I am about 3 months old. Towards the end of her pregnancy my mother Hera was rescued off the streets of the Greek island of Leros by my human Mum and Dad: Isabelle and David.
I am very cute with a twinkle in my golden eyes and a gorgeous ginger and white coat. I am the biggest of all my brothers and sister.
I jump high, run fast and enjoy my food. I like to play with my brother Hermes because he is nearly as strong as me. My sister Andromeda is clever. My baby brother Pericles looks like a tiger but is more of an intellectual: he is a bit shy and less daring than I am.
When we were born, we all had a very bad eye infection (all except for Andromeda), and for weeks Mummy Isabelle gave us eye drops and antibiotics.
I was very brave when Mummy came to give me the eye drops every morning, but I did scream
because it stung like the word Mummy says I shouldn’t use.
Mummy gave us two coloured plastic balls with a bell inside: when I kick the ball, it makes a big
noise and moves so quickly that I must run very very fast to catch up with it. I am also the most courageous of my two brothers and sister.
Every morning Mummy comes with a very strange and frightening machine; Mummy Isabelle calls it a vacuum cleaner. As soon as it is switched on, Mummy Hera and my two brothers and sister hide underneath the bed.
The first time I did the same, but now, I put my head out to look at Mummy Isabelle, she speaks to me reassuringly me and throws me one of the plastic balls. I feel so confident that I manage to run after the ball to catch it.
I like cuddles a lot so when Mummy Isabelle comes to see us in the morning, I am the first one to jump on her knees and when I look straight into her eyes, she says very nice things to me: “Ares, you are a beautiful boy, and very special. “
Mummy’s words are like a warm silk blanket over my heart. I feel so good about myself and strong. I must be very special because I have the love of two Mummies: Hera and Isabelle. How great is that?
We kittens live with Mummy Hera in two bedrooms – we could not be with the other house cats because of our eye infection, I am excited now because Mummy Isabelle says today we are all good and can be with the other house cats.
I really want to join the other house cats because they seem to have a lot of fun.
I feel so lucky to be with Mummy Isabelle and Daddy David, but I am sad because I cannot stay with my new parents, and my brother and sister: Mummy Isabelle says we are already too many in the house.
Although it will be heart-breaking to leave my lovely family, I am looking forward to a new loving Mummy and Daddy. That will mean that I will have two human Mummies and Daddies on top of Mummy Hera. One can never have enough love in one’s little life.
Please take me and love me now.
